Datafiles Menu
Change Folder for Datafiles

iData retains information about the folder that it uses to create the list of datafiles in the Datafiles menu. The default folder is iData Kwik Datafiles folder, inside an iData folder. The iData folder is expected be inside your Documents folder.

There could be a variety of reasons that you would not want to use that particular folder -- for instance, if you have previously used iData Pro or iData Lite, you might be more comfortable with the folder being named iData 3 Datafiles. Or, you might not want your datafiles folder in the Documents folder at all.

In any case, if you decide that you'd rather use a different folder for your datafiles, here's what you do:

    1. In the Finder, create your new folder, if it does not already exist.

    2. Move (or copy) any existing datafiles to that folder.

    3. In iData, select Change Folder for Datafiles... in the Datafiles menu. This will bring up the following window:

    4. To start the change, click the Change It button. This will bring up an Open dialog window.

    5. In the Open window, locate and double-click the new folder, so that the name of the folder shows up in the popup menu at the top of the window.

    6. Click the Select button.

At this point, the Datafiles menu should list the datafiles that are in the new folder.

NOTE: If you have a large number of datafiles (I have 164), one way to organize them is to place them in sub-folders within the datafiles folder. Then they will show up as sub-menus of the Datafiles folder.
