File Menu

Download Datafile via WiFi

When you create a new datafile in iData Mobile Plus, on your iPhone or iPad, you may want to transfer a copy of that datafile to your Mac.

This function requires iData Pro 4.0.42, or later, and iData Mobile Plus 1.1.10, or later.

Here's how to do that using a WiFi connection:

Activate the WiFi Network in iData Mobile Plus

NOTE: This article applies to both the iPhone and the iPad, but to keep things simple, it just refers to the iPhone.

  1. The Mac and the iPhone must both be on the same WiFi network.

    2. Open iData Mobile Plus on the iPhone. Be sure that WiFi is turned on, and a WiFi network is selected in the iPhone Settings application.

    3. Tap the  icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the Datafiles window.

    4. In the next window, tap the WiFi Synchronization button. This will bring up the following window.

    5. Note that the top line in this window says, "No WiFi Connection". If you see this line, it means that your iPhone does not have a good WiFi connection. Once the WiFi connection is good, you will see that it now says "Starting Connection". At that point, you can proceed with transfer.

    6. Leave this window open until you finish transferring the datafile. (You can transfer as many datafiles as you wish while this window remains open.)

    7. Open iData Pro on the Mac, and select Download Datafile via WiFi in the File menu.

    8. If you have more than one nearby active WiFi device, you may see a window that looks something like this:

In this case, select your iPhone in the popup menu and click the OK button.

    9. After a few seconds, you will see a list of the datafiles in iData Mobile Plus on the iPhone.

    10. Select a datafile to download, and click the Download button.

    11. If the datafile that you have selected already exists in your Datafiles folder, you will see the following alert:

Normally, you should click the Cancel button. If you need to have both versions of the datafile, you can go to the Finder, rename the existing version of the datafile, then go back to iData Pro and click the Replace button.

    12. Once the datafile has been downloaded to the Mac, it will open in iData Pro.
